1980s
Monday, November 22, 2010 @ 8:39 AM

Fashion in the 80s gave people more choice then ever before.  Pop stars especially Madonna and Michael Jackson ruled the mind of the youth through their music video. They set many trends that cause a phenomenon.  In this era, shirts and dresses often had shoulder pad to give a larger look to the area. Around this time, dance wear somehow gained attention. That is when leggings and off shoulder become popular with the ladies.

Sweaters are also very popular during that era. Most of them love to tie their sweaters on their waist. Neon and primary colours were a hit with matching socks and belt.

funky 70's
Friday, November 19, 2010 @ 8:23 PM

Trends from the 60's was brought to the 70's and that's how the fashion era in that decade
began. Miniskirts was still popular among women. The "flower power"thing was still fresh
in the 70's. And bell bottoms. How can we ever forget about those distinguish pair of jeans.

The 70's fashion recycled styles from the past and fuse all the different styles from the
different decades into one unique style that can be seen in the 70's.

But this doesn't mean that there were no authentic styles from the 70's. The trend in the
70's were namely disco and punk rock. Saturday night live began in this memorable decade.

What people put on in the early 70's was the laidback trend that kicked off from the 60's.
And if you guessed the hippie trend, then give yourself a pat on the back cause you are
right. Of course they didn't limit their choice of wardrobe to wearing only hippie clothing.
They still wore miniskirts and maxi dresses. Maxi dresses is very much common at this time
in our era and now, you know when maxi dresses started. Glitters was also a common sight
at that time. The more glitter, the better. Sequins also was very much popular.

By the mid 70's, high waisted pants was being introduce. At that time, the pants
were formerly known as loon pants as the bottom of the pants was flared. And this is when
rockish look started to form. People at that time started wearing denim jackets and having
long hair was the perfect accessory to punk up that look. The colours during this time were
dusty rose, prussian blue, bottle green, rust and brown. At this point, clothes weren't
structured to perfection. This meant that clothes was being designed into unique shapes
that look pretty good.

By the late 70's, the disco style finally settled in. These meant that the clothes women
wore at that time were vibrant and colourful and there was no stopping them from being
bold. This is when spaghetti straps was being unfold, spandex trousers and also tube tops.
Women is now seen as sexy.

There are so many styles from the 70's that we can see right now during this era. It proves
that the 70's fashion is indeed a trend that is purely authentic and unforgettable up to this day.

the 60's domination
Wednesday, November 10, 2010 @ 7:08 AM

Fashion in the 60's was all about being bold and daring. It is an era whereby fashion started to truly revolve into something that was fun and stylish. It was about mismatching a printed top with another voovoovavum pants.

In the 60's, a number of trends was being discovered and it was an era whereby the trend changing was a fast pacing one.

What people wore in the early 60's to my opinion was quite boring and dull. The colours they
had at that time supports my perception. It was all pale, toned shade, pastel colours. During
the office hours, people would wear suits, boxy jackets with oversized buttons on. Shifts dress
was also very much popular at that time. And when it's time to let loose and just let down your hair, women at that time wore capri pants. There wasn't much choice for women in the early 60's and hence the early point of the era was pretty much mundane.

But that soon enough change when the mid 60's started to take their dominance. Miniskirts was being introduced and that's when women started to be daring to wear something that showed more skin than they had intended to. Of course when there's mini skirts, there's bound to have minidresses too. But the shape of the minidress was only constrained to two types; the A line minidress or the sleevelessshift minidress.

The mid 60's was very much influenced by the british fashion or also known as mod.(Modernists) Girls became brave in terms of styling themselves up, looking similar to the boys. The trend to style up like boys took their domination. They had short and clean haircut.
Later on, as time went by, fake eyelashes was being introduced and pale lip colours was also being introduced. Dresses started to be formed into different kind of shapes that was thought to be out of this world. Prints drew attention to the women who update themselves on fashion. And up till now, prints will always be in style.
By the late 60's, the hippie revolution began. People started wearing tie-dyed shirts, bell bottom jeans and headbands. Sandals were among the popular footwear at that time as both men and women find something comforting and hippish about it.

All in all, many trends were being discovered in the 1960's and if you take a look closer in this era, you may find that the choice of wardrobe we have in our era is pretty much similar, or in fact the same.

Fashion never gets old, eh?

fashion in the 50's
Saturday, November 6, 2010 @ 5:38 AM

The highlights and major trends in the 50s are form-fitting dresses, bright colours and spectacles.
During the early 50s, everyone is influenced by Christian Dior fashion. During the late 40s, fashion is less feminine. Both men and women wore pants. During the early 50s, the fashion took an overturn.  The style became more “feminine”.  The new “feminine” look featured a fitted jacket, with a nipped in waist, and a full length calf skirt.

These are some of the examples.

In the mid 1950s up to the early 1960s, women's fashion took a de
cisive turn from the formality of the 1940's to the more fun and carefree fashion of the late 50's and early 60s. This time period was characterized by form-fitting wiggle skirts, shirtwaist dresses, and ornate cardigan sweaters. All three staples of 50s vintage fashion emphasized a nipped waist, as in Dior's design, but made the look less formal and added fun plaid elements.

As you can see, the bottom part of the dress is flare and flirtatious.

Fun Facts: Do you know that despite both the British and U.S. government advising women not to wear the new outfits due to excessive use of fabric, the style caught on dominated the early 1950's.

Shoes: In the early 1950's, shoes were often very high, being shaped into either rounded or peep toes and low cut front uppers.

In the mid 50's, pointed toe shoes are called winkle pickers with stilleto heels up to 5 inches were a common sight.

Bags: Bags in the 1950s were literally handbags and usually held by the hand or over the arm in fashion. Many handbags had side pockets,or even grip clasps or rings for a woman to keep tracks of her gloves.

Spectacles: One unexpected facial accessory of 50's was spectacles. Frequently there were inlaid with diamente or scattered glitter dust. The exaggerated wings at the outer corners flared in the style of butterfly wings.
